Rachel Platten’s “Bad Thoughts”: A Healing Anthem for Mental Health

Rachel Platten, the Emmy Award-winning artist known for her multi-platinum hit “Fight Song,” releases her latest single “Bad Thoughts,” a poignant exploration of mental health challenges, woven with personal narratives and therapeutic melodies. The song, which aims to offer solace and empowerment, is born from Platten’s own battle with postpartum depression, anxiety, and panic attacks, featuring guided breathwork cues that encourage listeners to remain grounded.

Platten’s “Bad Thoughts” is more than just a song; it’s a lifeline to those struggling in silence. It reveals her intense personal struggles and transforms them into a universal message of resilience. “I wrote ‘Bad Thoughts’ during an intense struggle with post-partum depression,” Rachel shares. “Songwriting was a form of medicine that helped me find my way back to myself. This song, in particular, was a lifeline.” The track incorporates breathwork cues, which Platten describes as “life-saving tools” that offered her peace during her darkest moments.

Amid her ongoing journey with mental health, Rachel announces a special candlelight show at St Ann’s Church in Brooklyn, set for Thursday, May 30. This follows the addition of a second Los Angeles show due to high demand, scheduled for Tuesday, May 14 at The Sun Rose, after her first show sold out.

Rachel’s impact was recently felt at Brooklyn’s King Theater during a Women’s History Month event with Audacy, alongside artists like Meghan Trainor and Kelsea Ballerini. Her performance of “Bad Thoughts” not only resonated deeply with the audience but also earned her two standing ovations, underscoring her connection with fans through her music.

The success of Rachel’s recent work extends to her 2023 single “Girls,” which marks her first release since 2017 and is currently #9 at AC Radio. Having become a fixture on radio playlists and accumulating significant streaming figures on Spotify, “Girls” underscores Rachel’s continued relevance and influence in the music industry.

Rachel Platten stands out not only as a performer but as a prolific songwriter and producer. Her upcoming album, featuring tracks like “Bad Thoughts,” “Mercy,” and “Girls,” is eagerly anticipated and will be released later this year on her own Violet Records. Through her music, Rachel continues to champion the power of personal healing and the importance of mental health awareness, creating a legacy that transcends her role as an artist.

Listeners can find “Bad Thoughts” on various streaming platforms, offering a musical sanctuary for those needing a reminder of their strength against mental struggles. As Rachel prepares for her upcoming shows and album release, her journey reminds us of the profound impact music can have on personal healing and collective understanding.
