he SHAPE Diva Dash obstacle run will kick off its fifth season April 11,2015 in Austin, with a greater focus on keeping families fit and giving back to the community. The SHAPE Diva Dash will also visit Boulder (May 2), Washington DC (September 12), Boston (September 26), and the New York City metro area (October 10). Adventure Fit, the Boulder-based event marketing company that produces the event is pleased to announce that the SHAPE Diva Dash has named Girls on the Run as its national partner and beneficiary. Through this partnership, participants will give back to an organization that aims to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum, which creatively integrates running.
Elements that support a fit family lifestyle have also been added to this year’s series. Two start waves in each city are Family Waves, so children and other family members can join their favorite ‘Diva’ in the run. Also new in 2015 is the CLIF Kid Adventure Zone, a free play area with hula hoops, pogo sticks, stilts, bouncy balls and more, which will allow kids to play while their moms enjoy the SHAPE Diva Dash after party. The SHAPE Diva Dash continues to be a mud-free fun run suitable for runners of all ages and abilities. The course includes 10-12 obstacles spread over a 3-mile mixed-terrain course to keep things interesting. We’ll bring back our favorites, including the tricky Fireman’s Pole with the climb/slide combination and the challenging Alpiner climbing wall. But we’ll also be unveiling some new obstacles that are sure to get the blood pumping. To stay true to the Diva Dash mission, which is to produce an event at which all can be successful, regardless of age or ability, many obstacles have different challenge levels so participants can select easier or more difficult options. The fact that the SHAPE Diva Dash encourages empowerment, sisterhood, and collaboration rather than simply competition is also a bonus.
