Vibrant, Fresh, and delicious. A Mixed Girl’s Recipes celebrates and embraces recipes of biracial cultures. This is an idea that is right for our time, but most importantly, the completion of this project was fulfilled and accomplished out of pure love of food, family, and the magic that is born from mixing cultures. A Mixed Girls Favorite Recipes
explores the variety of cuisines prepared by biracial women which delivers a mix of Mexican, Italian, and African American dishes…
Gloria Govan is so much more than meets the eye; the beautiful actress has depth and experience that is far beyond her age. Former star of VH1 network’s top rated show “Basketball Wives,” mom, wife, actress, basketball coach, philanthropist and now a cookbook author are just a few of the titles that Gloria Govan-Barnes has earned.
Her husband, Matt Barnes, NBA player of the Los Angeles Clippers is also bi-cultural; his mother Italian American and father African-American. Their blended cultures along with the love of food, created the need for Gloria to create the cookbook A Mixed Girl’s Favorite Recipes. Long time family friend and co-author, Marlena Attinasi, whose passion for food and family mirror that of Gloria’s started on this venture of creating a cookbook two-years ago. They decided that their first cookbook should honor their cultures, family members, and food that has influenced who they are as mothers and cooks. The creation of this book A Mixed Girl’s Favorite Recipes is the first of its kind and its debut to the world will create everlasting dialogue about this new emerging culture of biracial families. This “menu style” cookbook is easy to navigate and refreshingly un-intimidating. A Mixed Girl’s.
