The new collection from Delpozo presents a careful balance between the expression of organic architecture and the delicate femininity of the Victorian age. Straight lines are abandoned as shapes are formed by roses, bias cut frills and cap cleaves. Seams curve until they become small ridges supporting architectural modules. For the day, fabrics such as wool and mohair work the design structure to create natural shapes in dresses, coats and mini shorts. For nightfall, tulle, jacquard, crepe and organza bring light dresses in a romantic cut, without losing their volume. Embroidery, flowers and prints bring rhythm to the collection’s silhouettes while unifying the varied and extensive range of colors. Fuchsia, clay, green, burgundy, white, nude or vermillion are applied in block to create new combinations. This play of contrasts throughout the collection allows Delpozo to offer a personal proposal based on a profound investigation of colors and shapes.
The Hair Look
Antonio Corral Calero, Moroccanoil Artistic Director, created elegantly feminine and natural-looking hair styles for the Delpozo Fall 2013 collection. Inspired by the beautiful and very feminine lines, colors and shapes of the designs, Antonio created looks that were visually rich yet modern and light in feeling and flow. They featured deep, low side-parts, a simple airy chignon that floated from the nape of the neck and upward in loosely braided swirls, with graceful architectural sweeps of hair flowing over the ear and winging alongside the delicate chignon in back. The simple, organic texture of hair was highlighted as Antonio used lightweight Moroccanoil Treatment, Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium, and Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray to create the styles.
How The Look Was Created
“I started with Moroccanoil Treatment, the primer for all my hair looks. It created a healthier looking, softer texture to work with, and helped detangle the hair. Afterwards, I brushed the hair out, leaving each model’s natural texture intact, and created a deep, long side part that reached to the crown.
“Sectioning the hair from ear to ear, I left it free in front and tied the rest of the strands back into a simple ponytail placed low on the nape and held with a transparent hairband.
“I combed the hair from the parted side, then backcombed it to create a feeling of lightness, and brought it over the ear, adding it into the ponytail and held with another hairband. I did the same on the other side.
“Next, I slightly backcombed the hair in the ponytail, made a loose braid and swirled it around and into itself to create an airy chignon that floated from the nape of the neck to mid-head.
“To created a flowing winged effect alongside the chignon, I gently lifted hair near the ear with the tip of my comb to create contrasting volume and width at the back of the style.
“Finally, to keep the hair looking natural and soft, to prevent flyaways and loose strands and to hold invisibly, I sprayed on a small amount of Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium, and finished with a very light misting of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray.”
