The Emmy®-winning syndicated daytime talk show, The Doctors, welcomes Grammy® Award-Winning producer and American Idol judge, Randy Jackson, to the show on Tuesday, March 5 (check local listings). In a show on embarrassing body problems, Jackson opens up about his dramatic weight loss and the Type 2 diabetes diagnosis that forced him to get in tune with his health.
Jackson, who topped the scales at 355 pounds when first diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2003, has since shed 110 pounds with the help of gastric bypass surgery and now draws from his personal experience to educate others on the impact nutrition plays in the treatment and prevention of the disease.
When asked about his eating habits leading up to his diagnosis Jackson said, “I’m from the lovable ‘Dirty South,’ where everything is fried. Every dish starts with a stick of butter, a cup of sugar, and that’s only for the veggies.”
Jackson adds, “I look back at the first couple of seasons [of American Idol] and ask myself what was going on. It’s a great reminder to me to show how far I’ve come.”
Also in the show, Jackson surprises a young fan dealing with Type 2 diabetes as well and offers her a wake-up call to better manage her illness before neglect causes long-term damage.
Tune in this Tuesday, March 5 (check local listings) for the complete interview with Randy Jackson and the revealing truth behind the most embarrassing medical questions.
