Committed to democratizing access to and within the art world, AKArt presents AKArt MENTOR—a ten-week online course—which guides artists, providing information, tools, and strategies, as well as introductions to key people, organizations, and mechanisms that make up the field, while demystifying the interdependence between them. Register now to secure a spot for the fall session, which begins September 9, 2015.
Over the last 10 years, the increasingly global art market has grown in scope and influence—causing diversification within the visual arts ecosystem—which has created new and outside-the-box opportunities for artists as they traverse the existing infrastructures and challenges of the contemporary art world. With AKArt MENTOR, artists will gain an understanding of how to negotiate the challenges and opportunities of the art world through lectures and personal insights from industry expert guest speakers, including gallerists, art advisors, curators, and auction house professionals, as well as individuals connected to marketing and PR, art writing, publishing, criticism, collections management, and art fairs. The course incorporates one-on-one reviews, with guidance to build sustainable tools for your artistic practice—including portfolio reviews, so you can clearly communicate your work to the world, in writing, in person, and online.
