KaraokeOnVEVO, the sanctioned and licensed karaoke channel running on the YouTube VEVO platform with over 70 million views and 250 thousand subscribers, has just released its list of the 10 most popular karaoke songs of 2013.
Leading the list, is the mega-hit “Just Give Me A Reason”, made a smash hit by P!nk, recently awarded Billboard’s Woman of the Year, and Nate Ruess. The karaoke version from DigiTrax Entertainment, scrolled specifically for duets and released to KaraokeOnVEVO in July, nailed down the top position with over 1.5 million views.
But two songs in the style of Beyoncé, “Listen” and “Love On Top”, captured the 2nd-and 3rd-place awards, and assured that songs in the style of the multi-platinum, former lead singer of Destiny’s Child would be the most-listened-to among the Top 10, with nearly 2 million combined views.
“Counting Stars”, the third single release from OneRepublic’s 2013 album “Native”, peaked at No. 3 on U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and the DigiTrax karaoke version made up serious ground on the other contenders, notching no fewer than 527,000-plus views in only three months to capture 4th place. “Everything Has Changed”, another duet, this time in the style of Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, rounded out the Top Five.
Perhaps most surprising, the Academy Award-winning classic “Over The Rainbow” from 1939’s “The Wizard Of Oz” broke the Top 10 for 2013, coming in at No. 9. The DigiTrax karaoke version enjoyed a boost in popularity, due to the theatrical re-release of the film in IMAX 3D to honor its 75th anniversary.
