WILL ANGELINA GO GREEN?

When planning her wedding, we hope that Angelina Jolie will choose a gown that matches her values. Known around the world for her humanitarian efforts and her generous spirit, Angelina has become a symbol of goodwill in Hollywood. The Green Bride Guide™, the nation’s leading resource for green wedding ideas, products and services, has teamed up with some of the best green designers to create several different looks for Angelina Jolie’s wedding dress. Each designer brings something unique to the table, evoking Angie’s demure style with an edge! No matter what Angelina chooses, we hope green couples everywhere will consider an eco-friendly wedding gown for their own wedding!

Environmental lawyer Kate L. Harrison launched The Green Bride Guide in 2009 after her book The Green Bride Guide: How To Plan An Earth-Friendly Wedding On Any Budget became a best-seller in the wedding category. (Sourcebooks, 2008). Below are the sketches from six top green designers Seams, Tara Lynn Bridals, Elizabeth St. Jean, Natural Bridals, Barbara Deckert Couture, and Conscious Elegance

SEAMS

Not only did Harper Della-Piana of SEAMS Couture create a stunning gown for the soon-to-be bride, but this top green designer also sketched out plans for the Jolie-Pitt kids!

Angelina’s gown is made out of peace silk with layers of spiral cut ruffles down the front for full leg effect. It’s hand embroidered and beaded with rough cut Herkimer diamonds to match her chandelier earrings.  The cathedral length veil is made of antique silk tulle. SEAMS Couture chose peace silk for the gown fabric to honor Angelina’s commitment to being a United Nations Special Refugee Envoy.

The Jolie-Pitt girls are wearing wrap and tie dresses from The Wrapture Collection made in hand dyed indigo cotton from the Dalaba Women’s Collective in Guinea Africa. The boys jackets and ties are made of the same source, and their pants are made of hemp twill and shirts of a lightweight amity silk.

TARA LYNN BRIDALS

Tara Lynn of Tara Lynn Bridals drew detailed concept sketches of her vision! The first design boasts an edgy sky high slit that pays homage to her Oscar dress leg bomb infamy! Angelina and her family come from all over the world and embrace all cultures. This gown is a nod to their love of world travel and helping other nations in need.

The second sketch from Tara Lynn Bridal is a slinky gown with a plunging neckline and open back. Made of natural silk charmeuse, this extraordinary gown is dripping in glass jade and emerald stones from the waist down. A dramatic train pays homage to Angelina’s children with a special embroidered message trailing down to the bottom. Just like Angelina’s tattoo of the map coordinates matching where her children were born, this beautiful message is in plain view for all to see and honors the everlasting bond between mother and child on her special day!

ELIZABETH ST. JOHN

Elizabeth St. John Couture provides these playful pictures from a recent photo shoot. These include Liz’s vision of what Angelina would wear and also some adorable dresses for little girls! The “Hayden” dress on the left is a silk shantung scoop bodice with a nylon petticoat style skirt fully lined in PET taffeta and made in the U.S.A. Angie’s dress is a spaghetti strap silk chiffon goddess gown creation with a waist silk charmeuse detail! The “Adora” dress on the right is silk dupioni with a tulle skirt overlay, fully lined in PET Taffeta and made in the U.S.A.

NATURAL BRIDES

Morgan Boszilkov of Natural Bridals brings fashionable and functional to her gown designs with detachable bustles and skirts. This is a great way for Angelina to dress up her gown for the ceremony. Afterwards, for the reception, she can remove the bustle or skirt for a slinky evening gown look.

This dress consists of a sweetheart neckline, a detachable train with vintage lace and a large sculpted bow. Made of peace silk, charmeuse, and delicate beading at the bust, this gown evokes Hollywood glamour. This look is super slinky with a plunging V-Neck and vintage lace detailing. An asymmetrical sculpted and pleated skirt is detachable and accentuates the low V-Back with buttons. Created from peace silk, charmeuse, and vintage lace on the bodice and hem, this is one sexy number.

BARBARA DECKERT COUTURE

Barbara Deckert Couture has some great design sketches in mind for plus size women who want to look and feel like red carpet brides! We think that Angelina’s slender frame would also look beautiful in these designs. The floral embellishments across the straps are made of cream, white and lace roses with green leaves and tendrils that will make Angie’s blue eyes pop! This V-Neck strapless gown has a pretty corsellete, ruffle detail, and white, creme and lace trim. The front bottom of the gown boasts a pleated, shaped asymmetric dropped waist and a drape embellished with roses.

CONSCIOUS ELEGANCE

Lori Del Genis of Conscious Elegance created these concept sketches for us from two of her best selling gowns, The “Justine” and the “Bianca.” The “Justine” pictured below has a pretty crumb catcher bodice which balances out the bustline. This is a 2 piece ensemble with the upper skirt as a party length dress. Angie can remove the longer underskirt for a night of effortless dancing and socializing. Bianca is a classic organic dress with a detachable veil. It becomes part of the train when it’s job is finished. This multiple use veil looks beautiful both ways and is sustainable! What a clever way for Angie to save on fabric! Made from hemp, silk, and organic cotton, this gorgeous green gown can be made to order with or without straps. With simple slimming princess seams and a gently flaring skirt, this classic design is red carpet bride ready!
