PUBLIC ENEMY RELEASE FREE SURPRISE NEW ALBUM TODAY

Public enemy music

Trailblazing hip hop group Public Enemy surprise fans today with the release of a free new studio album, “Nothing Is Quick In The Desert (except Death).” The album is available for download for a limited time only, between 9:00am PT June 29, 2017 and midnight ET on July 4, 2017, at www.publicenemy.bandcamp.com and features guest appearances by Ice-T, PMD of EPMD, Easy Mo Bee, Sammy Vegas and Solé. Longtime Public Enemy collaborator David “CDOC” Snyder produced “…Desert,” with additional production work by Daddy-O of Stetsasonic, DJ Pain 1 of Divided Souls, Mike Redman, PE’s DJ Lord, Dejuan Boyd, Professor Griff and JP Hesser. The album also marks the first time Public Enemy has worked with the Spitburg Pirates, a songwriting collective of artists from Chuck D’s SpitSlam record label including Jahi of PE 2.0, CDOC, Marcus J of The Impossebulls and Retina MC.

“After 30 years, 106 tours across 105 countries and countless records, thank you,” says Public Enemy frontman Chuck D. “This one is on Public Enemy. Get it while it’s free.”

“’Nothing Is Quick In The Desert’ is a saying I use when the average person looks at the record industry,” he explains about the album’s title, a commentary on the music industry’s state of desert-like desolation with music itself still as vibrant as the life that exists there. “It looks dead like a desert. But there’s plenty of life in the desert when one is educated on what they see and hear. There, a cactus absorbs and stores water deep in its root, taken from the air itself and certain creatures thrive in that dry heat whereas the average cannot. It pays to be above average (or well below it) in the desert for survival. The music industry is similar in that analogy. It’s still in motion, it just needs redefinition.”

Public Enemy worked on the surprise album at the same time Chuck D and DJ Lord recorded and toured with the Prophets of Rage, which includes members of Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill.
