Nominations were announced in two segments beginning at 5:30 a.m. PT, with the remaining categories revealed shortly after at 5:41 a.m. PT. The Academy’s nomination process remains rooted in peer recognition. Members from each of the 19 branches vote within their disciplines—actors nominate actors, directors nominate directors, costume designers nominate costume designers—ensuring excellence is judged by experts in each craft. For categories such as Animated Feature Film, International Feature Film, Animated Short Film, and Live Action Short Film, nominees are selected by members across all branches who opt in and meet eligibility requirements.

What to Know About the 98th Oscars®

Final voting opens Thursday, February 26, 2026, and concludes Thursday, March 5, 2026, allowing members time to carefully evaluate each nominated film before winners are determined.
