The theme for the fourth episode of NBC’s “Fashion Star” was “It’s Getting Hot in Here,” and design competition contestants Johanna Hernandez, Brandon Scott and Cassandra Hobbins all created pieces hot enough to impress Express buyer Erika De Salvatore. “This was a team challenge where they had to use the same print or fabric” explains De Salvatore, “so it was really exciting to see how creative they could get when working together.”
Scott was able to make Express’ first buy with an Aztec print short for men. The above-the-knee fit was “perfect for our customer” according to De Salvatore, and “not too long or too short.” Featuring a cuffed hem and must-have tribal print, the shorts retail for $59.90.
Hobbins wowed De Salvatore with a style the Express customer already knows and loves – a maxi dress. “We are the dress authority in the mall” says De Salvatore, “and our customer loves maxi dresses!” The tie-dyed maxi with a revealing open back retails for $118.
Hernandez’s jumpsuit was Express’ final purchase of the night, a piece De Salvatore calls “a sexy champagne color, fully lined with amazing craftsmanship in style that resonates with our customer for summer.” Incredibly versatile and totally unique, this strapless design – available in bisque, black and a fun floral print – retails for $98.
