Celebrating Compassion: “Hollywood Under the Stars” Empowers Meals on Wheels at Paramount Studios

The spirit of generosity and glamour united at Paramount Studios as St. Vincent’s Meals on Wheels hosted its annual “Hollywood Under the Stars” fundraiser. Beneath the studio’s storied skyline, hundreds of community leaders, donors, and supporters gathered to celebrate and uplift one of Los Angeles’ most vital nonprofit organizations—delivering hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors across the city.

CEO Veronica Dover opened the event with an impassioned speech about the organization’s mission and resilience. She emphasized the daily commitment of delivering over 1,250 meals to vulnerable seniors, regardless of circumstances—including crises like the Eaton fires, during which the team remained steadfast in ensuring every meal was delivered with care.

Sister Joyce, Chair of the Board, followed with a heartfelt prayer inspired by St. Teresa: “May you use your gifts to bless others.” Her words set the tone for an evening filled with warmth, unity, and purpose.

Returning for her fourth year as host, Fox 11’s Susan Hirasuna brought charm and clarity to the evening. One of the most moving moments came from Nelly Llanos Kilroy and Rick Llanos, who passionately spoke about the emotional impact a simple, warm meal has on a senior living alone—restoring dignity and human connection in often-isolated lives.

Guests were treated to culinary delights from some of LA’s finest local eateries and bakeries. The outdoor tasting experience included cuisine and desserts from Emporium Thai, Box Chicken, Bertha Mae’s Brownie Co., Georgia’s Restaurant, and Lark Cake Shop—each offering bites that celebrated flavor and fellowship.

A silent auction and exclusive raffles added excitement and fundraising power to the evening. The event’s success was further boosted by the generous support of sponsors including Delta Dental, Food 4 Less / Kroger, Times Direct, Langlois, and Mission Community Hospital.

For over 45 years, St. Vincent’s Meals on Wheels has remained the largest privately funded meal delivery program in the country, providing a vital service to seniors who are often overlooked or forgotten. The fundraiser was a powerful testament to how the Los Angeles community continues to rally around its elders with compassion and commitment.

As stars sparkled above the Paramount backlot, attendees were reminded that delivering meals is more than just nourishment—it’s a statement that every life matters and that community still counts.
