Still inspiring waves of romantic frenzy across the globe three decades after their debut hit single “Lost In Love,” Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock of Air Supply have been caught in a joyfully frenzied musical whirlwind these past few years, keeping a diverse international schedule that includes the U.S., The Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Israel, Brazil and even Vietnam.
Nothing wrong with conquering hearts across the planet with classic hits like “All Out Of Love,” “The One That You Love” and “Making Love Out of Nothing At All.” After all, they’re still used regularly on TV commercials and major motion picture soundtracks. Now Air Supply is helping weary travelers and excited listeners everywhere find some much needed “Sanctuary”- the hitmaking duo’s latest single now available on iTunes. The track marks 36 years since Russell and Hitchcock recorded their debut album.
In 2010, Air Supply scored their first Billboard chart hit in 17 years with “Dance With Me,” the infectious first single from Mumbo Jumbo, their Odds On Records debut and first album of original material in eight years. “Dance With Me” reached #28 on the Adult Contemporary Chart, and their follow-up single “Faith In Love” also cracked the Top 30.
Broadway may soon make way for “Lost In Love”, a new musical that features 18 classic songs by Air Supply with four new tunes penned by the duo’s own Graham Russell. Theatre stars Andrea McArdle (Broadway’s original “Annie,”), Tony-nominated actor Constantine Maroulis (“Rock of Ages,” “American Idol”) and Justin Matthew Sargent (“Rock of Ages,” “Bonnie & Clyde”) were cast for the April 23-24 industry-only readings of “Lost In Love” written by Melissa Bell. Both readings drew a packed audience of producers and Broadway insiders.
In addition to hits like “Sweet Dreams” (the opening number), “Lost in Love,” “Here I Am (Just When I Thought I Was Over You),” and “Two Less Lonely People in the World,” the show included “I Can Wait Forever,” “The Way I Feel,” “Someone” and “Always.” Four new pieces by Russell included “A Little Piece of You,” “Why Do I Love You,” “Run Away” and the quirky and humorous vaudevillian flavored “Two Little Ducks.”
