AFI FEST 2023: Greta Gerwig’s Film Selections and Festival Highlights

Greta Gerwig, the Guest Artistic Director for AFI FEST, has unveiled her curated film lineup for the festival’s 37th edition, featuring a diverse array of cinematic gems. Here’s what you can expect from this year’s AFI FEST:

Gerwig’s Film Selections:

ALL THAT JAZZ
AN AMERICAN IN PARIS
A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH
PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE
WINGS OF DESIRE

Notably, Greta Gerwig will personally introduce select films, including A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH, and the iconic screening of PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Thursday, October 26 at 6:00 p.m.

Special Screenings:

The U.S. Premiere of LEE, starring Kate Winslet and produced by Winslet herself, takes audiences into the life of Lee Miller, the remarkable war correspondent. Directed by Ellen Kuras, this powerful narrative feature is a must-see and will be screened on Saturday, October 28 at 12:00 p.m.
Documentary Spotlight:

SLY, directed by Thom Zimny, offers an intimate look at Sylvester Stallone’s life and career. Featuring tributes from friends and collaborators like Talia Shire, Henry Winkler, Quentin Tarantino, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, this documentary provides unique insights into the iconic actor’s journey. Catch it on Saturday, October 28 at 3:15 p.m.
