Wyclef Jean, Emilio Estefan & El Cata collaborate on new single

Fantine, the emerging electro-­soul artist, announced today the release of her newest single, “What A Day,”featuring Wyclef Jean and El Cata. The single is part of her upcoming debut album, which is scheduled to be released later this year.
The new single, written byWyclef Jean and Fantine pays tributes to hard-working women everywhere. It is produced by three-time Grammy Award­-winning artist Wyclef Jean with additional production from 19-­time Grammy Award-­winning producer Emilio Estefan, and is sure be the summertime anthem.
El Cata, Dominican-born rapper, songwriter and record-­producer, who has worked with crossover superstars like Gloria Estefan, Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull and Shakira, also collaborated on the song.The song is currently available for download on iTunes.
“This song is a very special one for me and I’m excited to bring it to life,” said Fantine. “It is a homage to all women – we are constantly balancing family life, work and other responsibilities and we do it all with a no-fuss attitude.”
She added that the song is about what it is like to be a woman who makes a decision about how she is going to earn a living.
The music video evaluates the role of women in advertising and incorporates satirical elements surrounding Fantine. She plays a woman who becomes obsessed with vanity and materialistic things.
“Fantineis an amazing artist and, sonically, has a lot of soul,” said Wyclef Jean. “I love her style of writing, it compliments my own.””As a hip-hopper, I put the horn, which makes ‘What a Day’ sound like a summer jam” Wyclef Jean said. “I can’t wait for the world to hear this hot single.
Fantine announced her collaboration with the hip­-hop artist back in March via her social media accounts, shortly before sharing the stage with Wyclef Jean during the Miami Beach Centennial Concert.
The song is premiering today on AllMusic  and on July 10th will be available for download on iTunes.
Fantine is a Russian-Dominican singer songwriter who made her musical debut in 2010. Fantine first came onto the scene in Australia by lending her vocals to the soulful jazz­-inspired single”Super Sweet”. Her voice is a fusion of indie and electro-­soul, paired with a “swampy yet sultry” tone. Fantine performs and is fluent in Spanish, Russian, French, and English.  Her debut album I Am Fantine is infused with Emilio Estefan’s signature style and features her latest song “What A Day,” produced by Wyclef Jean with additional production by Emilio Estefan and also features Wyclef Jean and El Cata.
