World Stars To Play In Laureus Polo Cup

Laureus Ambassador Adolfo Cambiaso, Juan Martin Nero, brothers Facundo and Nicolas Pieres and David Stirling are among the world-class players taking part this weekend in the Laureus Polo Cup – one of the highlights of the English sporting summer.

To be held at the Guards Polo Club, Windsor, on Saturday, June 22, the event will raise funds for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Argentina.
Many celebrities will be present, including members of the Laureus World Sports Academy. Among them will be tennis legends Boris Becker and Martina Navratilova, England cricket hero Ian Botham and rugby giants Sean Fitzpatrick, the former All Blacks captain, and Hugo Porta, Argentina’s greatest player who is now President of the Fundación Laureus Argentina. Also present as a spectator will be polo great Eduardo Heguy, now a Laureus Ambassador.
Hugo Porta said: “This has become a great annual event and a wonderful day out.  People who come along will have the chance to watch top class polo and raise money for an important humanitarian cause.”
The Guards Polo Club at Smith’s Lawn, Windsor, is the perfect venue for this prestigious event, where polo enthusiasts and sports fans alike can experience polo in a relaxed environment while mingling with the stars of the game and other sporting legends, in the knowledge that all funds raised are going to a good cause. Entrance is £20 per car and all funds raised will be donated to the Fundación Laureus Argentina.
The event is supported by Mercedes-AMG, the performance brand of Mercedes-Benz, and renowned Swiss watch-maker IWC Schaffhausen. Mercedes-Benz and IWC Schaffhausen are both Global Partners of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
The mission of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation is to utilis e the power of sport to address social challenges through a worldwide programme of sports related community development initiatives.  Laureus supports almost 140 projects worldwide and since its inception in 2000 has raised over €60 million for projects which have improved the lives of more than one-and-a-half million young people.
The Fundación Laureus Argentina was founded in May 2003 by Hugo Porta. The headquarters are in Buenos Aires with the Foundation’s work extending to distant Argentine provinces that greatly benefit from its backing. Currently, the Foundation supports six projects: Unión y Amistad de San Isidro, Club Deportivo Barracas, A Ganar, Club Platense, Fundacion El Desafio and Virreyes Hockey.
