We are thrilled to expand our annual Oscars Season programming at the Academy Museum with even more screenings, panels, and programs for the public,” Homma stated. Now in its third year, the museum has solidified its status as a premier destination for both Los Angeles locals and international visitors eager to engage with Oscar-nominated films and filmmakers.
The festivities commence on January 28 with a special book signing event featuring Turner Classic Movies host Dave Karger, author of “50 Oscar Nights.” Karger will also engage in a moderated discussion with actor Topher Grace, providing insights into memorable Oscar moments and the evolution of cinema’s most glamorous night.
In anticipation of the 96th Oscars, the Academy Museum Store will unveil an exclusive collection of Oscars merchandise, ranging from the official 96th Oscars Poster to a curated Oscars Viewing Party Kit, specialty popcorn, and a variety of themed apparel and home decor items, including a limited edition of Pantone™ Oscars Gold products.
The museum’s David Geffen Theater will host the Weekend Short Cuts series, showcasing Oscar-winning animated short films from the past decade. This free series, part of the museum’s general admission, offers a retrospective look at award-winning shorts such as “Feast,” “Bear Story,” “Piper,” “Bao,” and “Hair Love,” celebrating the innovation and creativity in animated storytelling.

The highlight of the season, “Oscars Night at the Museum,” will take place on March 10, offering guests a glamorous viewing party complete with Wolfgang Puck catering, exclusive photo ops, and live broadcast of the Oscars on ABC. Fanny’s, the museum’s restaurant and cafe, joins the Oscars celebration with a special cocktail menu inspired by the Best Picture nominees, crafted by bar director Marisa Mercado.
