NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” Relaunches with New Studios and Hosts

NFL Network’s Emmy Award-winning show, “Good Morning Football,” is set to relaunch on Monday, July 29. The daily show will now air from NFL Network’s studios in Los Angeles, moving from its original New York City base since its debut in 2016. The program will be broadcast Monday through Friday from 8-10 a.m. ET.

New Hosts and Expanded Coverage

The show will feature current hosts Jamie Erdahl, Peter Schrager, and Kyle Brandt, along with new additions: former NFL defensive end Akbar Gbajabiamila and news reporter Sherree Burruss.

  • Peter Schrager & Kyle Brandt: Original members since August 1, 2016
  • Akbar Gbajabiamila: Returns to NFL Network after a stint with CBS’ “The Talk”

“Not only are we bringing back a show that so many fans have woken up to and loved for years, we are giving it a state-of-the-art new home with even more resources and space for our talent to showcase their signature segments and fun takes on the game of football,” said Angela Ellis, NFL Media vice president of original content and entertainment.

Gbajabiamila’s Return

Gbajabiamila, a Los Angeles native, previously served as an in-studio analyst for NFL Network from 2012 to 2019. He brings a wealth of experience from his time co-hosting CBS’ “The Talk” and hosting NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior” since 2013. “We are thrilled to welcome Akbar back to NFL Network, with his unique experience on and off the field and spanning both sports and entertainment,” said Ellis.

Burruss’s New Role

Burruss will provide news updates and contribute to various segments on the show. She brings a veteran on-air presence, having joined NFL Network earlier this year.

“GMFB: Overtime”

In addition to the daily show, a new series titled “GMFB: Overtime” will stream on The Roku Channel Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. – noon ET. This series will also air in syndication across various local stations starting Monday, September 2.

Strategic Partnerships

The Roku Channel will stream “GMFB: Overtime” for free, accessible on various devices without a subscription. This move signifies a significant milestone in the partnership between NFL Media, Sony Pictures Television, and Roku.

“Partnering with the NFL is a dream come true,” said Flory Bramnick, executive vice president of distribution at Sony Pictures Television. “Opportunities like ‘GMFB: Overtime’ are special and rare, and I’m grateful to the NFL for entrusting us with this jewel.”

“Good Morning Football” and “GMFB: Overtime” are produced by NFL Media, with executive producers Michael Davies of Sony Pictures Television-backed Embassy Row, and showrunners Bill Hentschel and Becky Orenstein. Sony Pictures Television handles U.S. distribution, with CBS Media Ventures managing national ad inventory for “GMFB: Overtime.”
