NBA Legend Derek Fisher, Ball Up, Streetball May 22nd – the premier name in streetball – near the end of their tour with a stop off in The City of Angels. Los Angeles has long been known for their ballers, and it looks like the best of them came out to play against Ball Up this week. The world’s first reality basketball competition series, Ball Up’s “Search for the Next” is coming to Los Angeles to find raw talent that can stack up to their all-star team. The squad consists of top-tier players such as The Professor, G. Smith, AO, Air Up There, Mr. Afrika, as well as California’s own Bone Collector and Sik Wit It.
This week, retired NBA Legend Derek Fisher will be on deck to try to coach the Los Angeles team to victory. L.A.’s open run brought out a truly diverse group of hoopers to the blacktop. Players traveling from as far as New Zealand to ballers measuring in at under 5 feet tall, all came out determined to rep their city’s squad and take on the Ball Up All-Stars.
After some tough decisions, the 10-man team is selected to play at The Pyramid in Long Beach California for team LA Vs. Ball Up. Los Angeles’ crew gets off to a slow start, before making a furious second half comeback – some true basketball skills are put on display here. Along with trying to earn a W, team L.A.’s players are all vying for a chance to be one of the game’s two MVPs, who will move on to the combine for a chance to win a Ball Up contract. Team Ball Up stick to their high flying ways, while L.A. puts on a sharp shooting clinic, but will it be enough to topple the undefeated BU crew?
