Los Angeles was abuzz this week as Hollywood’s elite gathered for the glamorous premiere of Sentimental Value, the latest cinematic triumph from acclaimed Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Trier. The red carpet event, held in the heart of Hollywood, drew a dazzling roster of stars and industry insiders, celebrating a film that has already generated significant awards-season buzz.

In attendance were Writer/Director Joachim Trier, stars Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård, Inja Ibsdotter Lilleaas, and Elle Fanning, alongside Casting Director Yngvill Haga and Co-Writer Eskil Vogt. The ensemble’s effortless chemistry illuminated the premiere, setting the tone for a night filled with heartfelt moments and cinematic admiration.

Adding to the star-studded energy were notable guests such as Kristen Stewart, Ayo Edebiri, Lake Bell, Sharon Stone, Aziz Ansari, Justine Lupe, Amy Seimetz, Sky Ferreira, Jessica Rothe, Sean Wang, Karyn Kusama, Jack McBrayer, and Lorene Scafaria—a testament to Trier’s reputation as one of the most beloved directors in contemporary cinema.

About the Film

Opening in select theaters November 7, Sentimental Value offers a moving exploration of family, artistry, and reconciliation. Directed by Joachim Trier (The Worst Person in the World) and co-written by longtime collaborator Eskil Vogt, the film is produced by Maria Ekerhovd and Andrea Berensten Ottmar.

The story centers on sisters Nora and Agnes, who reconnect with their estranged father Gustav, a once-celebrated filmmaker now seeking redemption through one final masterpiece. When Gustav casts Nora in his comeback film, she declines — only to discover that he’s replaced her with a young Hollywood actress, played by Elle Fanning. What unfolds is a deeply emotional narrative of ambition, jealousy, and love, as the family confronts their fractured past and uncertain future.

With a runtime of 135 minutes and a bold R rating, Sentimental Value captures the complexity of familial bonds through Trier’s signature blend of realism and lyricism. His collaboration with Renate Reinsve (reuniting after their Oscar-nominated The Worst Person in the World) delivers yet another breathtaking performance that cements her as one of today’s most captivating talents.
