LOS ANGELES FILM FESTIVAL 2014 SPONSOR NEWS

Today the Los Angeles Film Festival, presented by Film Independent, in conjunction with Presenting Media Sponsor the Los Angeles Times and Host Partner L.A. LIVE, announced its sponsors for the 2014 Festival. The Los Angeles Film Festival will run from Wednesday, June 11 to Thursday, June 19 in downtown Los Angeles. Joining the Festival as Principal Sponsors are Relativity and Subaru. Jaeger-LeCoultre joins the Festival for the first time as a Platinum Sponsor. Returning Platinum Sponsors include HBO®, Stella Artois, Dolby Laboratories, Inc., Canon U.S.A., Inc. and EFILM. Loyola Marymount School of Film and Television returns as the University Sponsor.

Festival Supporter level sponsors include Classic Party Rentals, Directors Guild of America, The Los Angeles Athletic Club, Renwood Winery, SmartSource Rentals, Tanqueray and Z Gallerie. Festival Affiliate level sponsors include ASCAP, ATK Audio Tek, BMI, The Coca-Cola Company, FilmL.A., Inc., Kinetic Lighting, Kona Company, Konsonant Music, Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles, MelroseMAC, Montana Film Office, Panavision, SAGindie, Sister Cities Los Angeles, SNAPSOUND, Vimeo and Writers Guild of America West. For the ninth year, the Los Angeles Times will serve as the Festival’s Presenting Media Sponsor and will produce the Official Festival Guide, the comprehensive source for all movie info, screenings, locations and related special events. The Film Guide topped the paper on Sunday, June 8 in Los Angeles and Orange County, and will be made available throughout downtown Los Angeles during Festival.

Through a wide-ranging partnership with AEG, a majority of the screenings will take place at Regal Cinemas L.A. Live Stadium 14. Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14 is a state-of-the-art theatre with digital projection in all 14 auditoriums. The Premiere House at L.A. LIVE is a premium environment which seats 800 guests and features a 70-foot-wide screen.

Principal Sponsor, Relativity will hold the world premiere of their film Earth to Echo at the Festival on June 14.  Relativity Education will sponsor the Future Filmmakers Showcase and will co-sponsor the Future Filmmakers Luncheon with Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television. The Luncheon is an annual event honoring the talented high school students who have films in the Future Filmmaker Showcase at the Festival and will feature composer Emilio Kauderer as the keynote speaker. The Future Filmmaker Program will take place on June 14.

Returning as the Festival’s University Sponsor, Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television will sponsor the previously mentioned Future Filmmakers Luncheon and Dear White People Gala. Additionally, they will be sponsoring the Festival’s Documentary Section and will also sponsor a special presentation of the documentary competition film Out in the Night. This screening will serve as the launch to the UN Free & Equal Global Film Series and will include a conversation with the filmmakers and UN representatives to discuss issues around human rights and the power of film to combat violence and discrimination.

 

Ranked as one of the top 10 film schools in the U.S. by The Hollywood Reporter, Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television (SFTV) in Los Angeles offers undergraduate degrees in animation, production, screenwriting and recording arts; and graduate degrees in production, screenwriting, and writing and producing for television. The Los Angeles Athletic Club returns for the fourth year as the 2014 Official Host Hotel.  With a multi-million dollar hotel renovation, the new Hotel at The Los Angeles Athletic Club (LAAC) has unveiled 72 renovated urban chic hotel rooms with nine distinctively themed suites.

The Los Angeles Film Festival offers several free community screenings, open to the public. On June 13th a Dance-A-Long screening of La Bamba will be produced in cooperation with Dance Camera West and Metro. The event is sponsored by FICG in LA (Guadalajara Film Festival in Los Angeles) and Univision. The Los Angeles Film Festival will also present two free community screenings of I Am Big Bird: The Carroll Pinney Story on June 13th and Sherlock Jr. on June 14th. The Sherlock Jr screening will be accompanied live by the French garage rockers Magnetix, who have composed an original score just for this outdoor screening at California Plaza. This event is part of the year-long 50th anniversary celebration of the Los Angeles-Bordeaux Sister Cities program.

Many partner organizations have joined the Festival to support international films and filmmakers in the Festival by providing travel funds. These partners include Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles, UCLA Latin American Institute, Consulate General of Switzerland (Presence Switzerland) and University of Guadalajara Foundation – USA.

CBS 2 and KCAL 9 once again serve as the Official Broadcast Television Partners.
