It’s time for REVOLUTION from Rob Stewart, the Director of SHARKWATER

Director Rob Stewart, whose multiple award-winning hit SHARKWATER  became one of the highest grossing Canadian documentaries of all time, brings us REVOLUTION, a groundbreaking adventure-doc that dives into the evolution of life on earth and the revolution needed to save us.

Executive produced by Gus Van Sant (MILK, GOODWILL HUNTING) REVOLUTION made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival securing second runner up for the People’s Choice Award, and has gone on to win seven subsequent awards at some of the biggest film festivals in Canada as well as the Santa Barbara Film Festival.

REVOLUTION opened on 80 screens in Canada earlier this year, and grossed more than any Canadian documentary since the 2007 release of SHARKWATER (37 awards) which is credited as igniting the movement to protect sharks, changing government policy worldwide and spawning shark conservation groups.

REVOLUTION goes where no feature film has gone before, said director/producer Rob Stewart. “Exposing the gravest environmental issue, Ocean Acidification, to the mass public for the first time – REVOLUTION is sure to shock and inspire audiences in the US as it has in Canada. Although we face a potentially grave situation, the film is inspirational and empowering, giving moviegoers a love of life, and sense of hope and determination to do something.”

Filmed over four years in 15 countries in some of the both breathtaking locations on land and in the sea, REVOLUTION is an inspiring and empowering firsthand look into the most important issues facing humanity; the evolutionary tale of how we got here, the ecosystems we depend on for survival, the most diverse, charismatic creatures that live there, and the battle underway to save our life support system.

REVOLUTION makes its international market premiere at AFM and is slated for theatrical release in the Spring of 2014.

“We are very enthusiastic to present REVOLUTION to distributors at AFM,” said Edward Noeltner at Cinema Management Group. “It’s rare that feature documentary is, at the same time entertaining, moving, inspiring and commercially viable across the global marketplace. REVOLUTION is one of those rare gems.”
