Apple TV+

Apple TV+ has released the highly anticipated trailer for the second season of “Swagger,” the critically acclaimed sports drama created by Reggie Rock Bythewood, Kevin Durant, and Brian Grazer. The Apple Original series is set to make its global debut on Friday, June 23, 2023, with subsequent episodes airing weekly on Apple TV+ until August 11.

Inspired by NBA superstar Kevin Durant’s own experiences, “Swagger” delves into the world of youth basketball, exploring the lives of the players, their families, and their coaches as they navigate the thin line between dreams and ambition, and the darker side of opportunism and corruption. Beyond the basketball court, the series offers a poignant portrayal of growing up in America. For those who haven’t caught up with the first season, it is now available for streaming on Apple TV+.

Adding to the excitement, “Swagger” season two has been selected as one of the premieres at the prestigious 2023 Tribeca Film Festival. The festival, renowned for its celebration of diverse storytelling, will showcase the new season on Saturday, June 17, with the attendance of creator Reggie Rock Bythewood and the cast.

In the upcoming season, viewers will be introduced to Jace, Phil, Nick, Musa, Drew, and Royale, a group of young men entering their senior year of high school. While all of them, except Phil, are enrolled at Cedar Cove Prep, a predominantly white institution run by influential board members, they find themselves thrust into the limelight when the school’s basketball program, previously lackluster, is revitalized by the arrival of the Swagger players. As their success attracts national attention, the players face increased scrutiny and intense pressure while aiming for a national high school championship.

However, amidst the successes, Jace Carson’s life takes an unexpected turn when a video emerges, threatening to unravel everything he and his family have worked for. The footage captures the brutal assault of Coach Warwick, linked to the Swagger players. The allegations spark public speculation and social media frenzy, challenging the players’ bond and jeopardizing their promising futures.

The cast of “Swagger” season two features returning stars O’Shea Jackson Jr., Isaiah Hill, Shinelle Azoroh, Quvenzhané Wallis, Tristan Mack Wilds, Caleel Harris, Tessa Ferrer, James Bingham, Solomon Irama, Ozie Nzeribe, Jason Rivera, Christina Jackson, and Sean Baker. Joining the ensemble are new additions Orlando Jones and Shannon Brown.

Executive produced by Reggie Rock Bythewood, Kevin Durant, Brian Grazer, and Rich Kleiman, “Swagger” is a collaboration between Imagine Television Studios, Boardroom, CBS Studios, and Undisputed Cinema. Francie Calfo and Joy Kecken also serve as executive producers, while James Seidman takes on the role of co-executive producer.

Since its launch in November 2019, Apple TV+ has established itself as a platform for premium drama and comedy series, groundbreaking documentaries, feature films, and family entertainment. With a track record of multiple award wins and nominations, including the Emmy Award-winning comedy “Ted Lasso” and the Oscar Best Picture winner “CODA,” Apple TV+ continues to captivate audiences worldwide across various screens.
