Think Like A Man The All-Star Cast Taraji P. Henson, Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Meagan Goode

Thursday I screened “Think like a Man”; it looks like Rainforest Films’ Will Packer (Takers, Stomp The Yard) has a new hit on his hands.  The romantic comedy is Rainforest and Screen Gems’ hilarious adaptation of comedian Steve Harvey’s best-selling book, “Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man”.

I’m willing to bet that women will be lining up in droves at movie theaters with their girlfriends in tow to get some relationship advice and share in the laughs.  After all, a good man is hard to find, right?

As a woman, I found that the characters were all relatable; in other words, if you’ve spent any time dating you will definitely see someone you dated as a character in this movie.  Oh, and ladies, don’t get it twisted, men will definitely get some laughs because our issues are exposed too. This story follows four interconnected, diverse men whose lives are shaken up after the ladies they are pursuing buy Steve Harvey’s book and begin taking his relationship advice to heart.  The title “Think Like A Man” drops a big hint as to the sort of tips Harvey gives to his readers.  However, when the band-of-brothers realize they have been betrayed by one of their own, they conspire and use the book’s insider information to turn the tables and teach the women a lesson of their own.

Director, Tim Story (Barbershop) smartly weaves together a humorous story with a star studded ensemble, while Harvey dishes out his folksy, down-home anecdotes about relationships.  Comedian Kevin Hart is a scene stealer; his comedic timing hits a homerun in this film and he’s surely one to watch.

The all-star cast includes Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson, Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Meagan Goode, Gabrielle Union, Romany Malco, Terrence J., Regina Hall, Chris Brown and veteran actress Jennifer Lewis. There are also a few surprise appearances by characters that I don’t want to give away.

But the big question still remains; will Harvey’s message in this movie deliver on its promise of helping women find Mr. Right?  Well, as a woman, I can say that most of it is common sense, but for those who don’t have any this is a must see. For everyone else, go see the movie because you will laugh your ass off!  In theaters April 20th, MPAA Rating: PG-13 – Report contributed by Shannon Amos, Afterglow Multimedia TV & Film Producer
