Michelle Pfeiffer To Host The 8th Annual Pink Party Presented Elyse Walker

Elyse Walker presents the 8th annual pink party® in support of the Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Program (WCP) at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute at Hangar 8 in Santa Monica on October 27, 2012.  This year, the event will be hosted by actress, Michelle Pfeiffer. Golden Globe Award winner and three-time Academy Award nominee Michelle Pfeiffer has captivated film audiences with her stunning beauty and compelling performances for over three decades.  With a repertoire including the likes of Scarface, Dangerous Liasons, The Fabulous Baker Boys, and Love Field, Pfeiffer has been honored with a BAFTA Award, Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award, National Board of Review Best Actress Award and New York Film Critics Circle Award, and has also received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination and five additional Golden Globe Award nominations for her performances. She is thrilled to serve as the host of this year’s pink party® in support of a very important cause.

Elyse Walker is as passionate and committed to celebrating life as she is about finding a cure for cancer. In 2005, she founded the pink party® in honor of her mother who was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer at the age of 40. Her diagnosis was terminal; she never had a chance to benefit from early detection or any of the numerous new therapies being tested today. Through the annual pink party®, Walker has raised over $6 million dollars in support of the Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Program, one of the nation’s top 10 gynecologic oncology programs.  Cedars-Sinai’s unique comprehensive, translational approach to cancer care and research is leading to improved ways to diagnose and treat gender specific cancers including breast, ovarian, uterine, and cervical as well as gender-shared cancers such as lung, colon, and pancreatic.

“The pink party® is an integral source of support for this important work. Together, the Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Program and the pink party® represent a formidable partnership in fighting cancer and helping women in Los Angeles and around the world,” said the director of the WCP, Dr. Beth Y. Karlan, MD.

This year, the pink party® will produce what is anticipated to be the biggest fashion event to take place in Los Angeles in years.  The fashion show will be on 54-foot catwalk and will feature looks from the following designers: Barbara Bui, Brunello Cucinelli, Chloé, J. Mendel, KaufmanFranco, Kelly Wearstler, Stella McCartney and Valentino.

Pink party® is a celebration of women, fashion, friendship and life. We are celebrating eight years of philanthropy supporting one of the premier medical and research centers in the world. It is without question that this year’s pink party® will be bigger and better than ever,” said Elyse Walker.

The festivities will also include a silent auction of designer handbags and jewelry as well as a live auction featuring art by Los Angeles-based artist Retna, a luxury vacation, opportunity to win a new car and more!

Celebrities who have lent their name in support of both the event and the cause include: Michelle Pfeiffer and David E. Kelley, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, Kate Beckinsale and Len Wiseman, Katie McGrath and JJ Abrams, Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow, Jennifer Meyer Maguire and Tobey Maguire, Stacy Keibler, Maria Menounos, Molly Sims, Marcia Cross, Bernadette & “Sugar” Ray Leonard, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Brad Hall, Jessica Capshaw, Caroline and Chris O’Donnell, Serena & Shawn Levy, Michelle & Michael Chiklis, Courtney Thorne-Smith and Roger Fishman, Jamie Lee Curtis, Giada de Laurentiis and Todd Thompson, Stacey Snider & Gary Jones, Allison Janney, Beth Riesgraf, Carrie Preston, Lisa Edelstein, and more.

There are many ways to contribute to the cause.  Exclusive items, such as the Supra Pink Party Skytop for women, Chloé Marcie Satchel in paradise pink, Chloé pink studded booties and Pamela Love double cage ring in rose gold ring will all be available for sale at www.forwardbyelysewalker.com and at Elyse Walker in Pacific Palisades 310.230.8882.  A percentage of the sales from each of these items will be donated to the Cedars Sinai Women’s Cancer Program.

ABOUT THE PINK PARTY:

The annual pink party®, founded by Elyse Walker in partnership with the Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Program, has become a marquee industry event dedicated to celebrating women and fashion and working toward ending gynecologic and breast cancers as a threat to women.  Since its inception seven years ago, the pink party® has raised over $6 million. Previous hosts have included Jennifer Garner, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel.

ABOUT THE CEDARS-SINAI WOMEN’S CANCER PROGRAM:

The Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Program at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute focuses on industry-leading research on cancers that affect women. Their mission: end cancer as a threat to women.

Under the direction of Beth Y. Karlan, MD, the Women’s Cancer Program seeks to improve our understanding of gender-based differences in cancer and identify unique tumor biology, risk factors, and cancer behaviors in women.

Since 2005, the partnership between the pink party® and Cedars-Sinai has helped raise more than $6 million to fight women’s cancers through research. Bolstered by this support, the Women’s Cancer Program welcomed a new faculty physician, new breast cancer researcher, and three new postdoctoral fellows in the last year alone.

ABOUT ELYSE WALKER

Since its opening in 1999, Elyse Walker has established one of the most successful specialty boutiques in the country.  With a reputation as a sharp stylist and buyer with an eye for color and proportion, Walker has grown her namesake store to 6,500 square feet, spanning nearly an entire block of Antioch Street in Pacific Palisades, CA and attracting women from all over the country who are looking for noteworthy and fashion-forward designs.  Even with her full-time commitment to her business and family, Elyse has always made giving back a priority. While Elyse was at Columbia University, her mother was diagnosed with Stage IV ovarian cancer, leading Elyse to take the reins of the family retail business while still managing to complete her education. Sadly, Elyse ultimately lost her 42 year-old mother to cancer after a long battle with the disease- and it was this devastating experience that motivated Elyse to create the pink party®, an annual fundraiser for Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Program that has raised over $6 million in the past 7 years.  By expanding her brand portfolio with FORWARDbyelysewalker.com, an unrivaled e-commerce experience, and EW Magazine, a monthly behind-the-scenes look at the Fashion and Market Weeks in New York, Milan, and Paris, Elyse has seamlessly and successfully merged the worlds of fashion, e-commerce, and editorial while still retaining her passion for philanthropy. Inspired by her mother as well as the extraordinary women she encounters on a daily basis, it is her most heartfelt desire to help find a cure for women’s cancer.
