Power Pilates Gives your Core the Ultimate Workout

Fitness trends are a dime a dozen. They come and go like the common cold. Some of them stick around, but most of them end up in the back alley where they belong.

Not Pilates. It’s a fitness movement in and of itself, and its effectiveness is what has enabled it to stand the test of time. Pilates is truly the reigning emperor of the fitness landscape, and it’s not just because it’s a popular celebrity workout (though it probably doesn’t hurt that Madonna is a fan, and she has the most killer body).

Carrie Campbell is a HARDCORE Power Pilates teacher with a mission to CHANGE YOUR CORE. This is the first time Power Pilates (a method focused on the basics) is releasing a DVD with three levels on one DVD – so you can either progress from Beginner – Intermediate – Advanced, or choose a workout that caters to how you are feeling on that particular day. It’s all about what makes you feel GOOD. There is a total of 70 minutes of recorded video on the DVD.

Apart from its thousand-time over proven results, Pilates remains popular as it serves multiple functions:

  • It can be practiced by a broad range of people, from pregnant women to elderly people, to everyone in between.
  • It’s great to rehabilitate an injury with, is great cross training for dancers and other athletes, and is also great for the elderly as most movements are very low impact.
  • It improves posture, strengthens the core and back muscles, makes you longer and leaner, helps prevent injuries, and improves balance and coordination.

Brooke Siler, a Pilates expert, has even said that she got into it because she “had never found an exercise method so intelligent in its design.”

Originally designed for rehabilitating soldiers wounded in World War I – and later on, injured dancers – Pilates was created by a man named Joseph Pilates in the early 1920’s. Together with his wife, Clara, opened a studio in 1925 in New York City. Though it moved locations in the 1980’s, the building remains there today. Today, it is home to Power Pilates, a studio whose founders were trained by the original disciple of Joseph and his wife. Since 2000, Power Pilates has trained over 10,000 instructors, and transformed the lives of millions of people, staying true to Joseph’s classical Pilates training.
