Laura Mvula’s ‘Sing To The Moon’ on NPR’s First Listen

Sing To The Moon is also available to stream as a First Listen on NPR, who wrote of the album: “[Mvula’s] mix of classic soul and modern breeziness can be difficult to locate on a calendar, let alone a map… There’s a string-swept, horn-infused Technicolor brightness to her full-length debut, Sing to the Moon, that evokes visions of 75-year-old movie scores, and yet the album never feels as if it’s trying to re-create anything.”

After several phenomenal performances at this year’s SXSW, Laura returns to the US with a rescheduled LA show headlining the Bootleg Theater this Wednesday (April 17), and she will headline NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on May 20, with more US tour dates to be announced.

Sing To The Moon has received overwhelming critical praise, with the UK’s Daily Mail, the Daily Mirror, the Evening Standard, the Guardian, the Telegraph, and Metro all giving the album 4 stars and the Sunday Times selecting it as their Album of the Week. She was also nominated for the 2013 BRITs Critics’ Choice Award and ranked fourth on the shortlist for the coveted BBC Sound of 2013.  Mvula made her UK TV debut on The Graham Norton Show, and also recently performed three songs on Later… with Jools Holland. “Green Garden” on The Graham Norton Show:
