SHAPE Magazine’s Diva Dash women-only obstacle run returns to Marshfield, Massachusetts on September 6
The SHAPE Diva Dash women-only 5k-obstacle run will return to Marshfield Fairgrounds in Marshfield, Massachusetts on September 6, 2014. Marshfield, just 30 miles from Boston, is on Massachusetts’ popular South Shore.
Since its inaugural event in Austin in 2011, more than 50,000 have participated in the Diva Dash, an all-women run which features a 3 mile run course with a dozen obstacles designed to test speed, strength and agility. More than 10,000 women have experienced the Diva Dash at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
Sponsored by SHAPE Magazine, the Diva Dash’s mission is to encourage women to live a fit, fun, and healthy life. With creative costumes, challenging obstacles, and a celebratory atmosphere, the goal is to encourage women to step out of their comfort zone and experience something new and empowering.
The SHAPE Diva Dash attracts “Divas” of all shapes, sizes, abilities and ages. Participants can sprint, jog, walk or crawl to the finish line. Obstacles are spaced along the 5k course to keep the run interesting. Runners can choose the challenge level that is right for them by selecting easier or more difficult options or skipping the obstacle altogether.
Although the race is not timed, those who are looking for a challenge can sign up for the 9:00AM competitive wave. The 10 fastest runners in this wave receive a medal and other prizes. Additional waves leave in 15-minute intervals, after the 9:00AM wave, with the last wave scheduled at 12:00PM.
“The Marshfield Diva Dash is our best and biggest event of the season” says Sharon Cutler, Event Manager. “We’ve had 81-year-old grandmothers tackle the course with their daughters and granddaughters, flashmobs surprising and entertaining at the venue, and men dressed up like Divas crashing the course. It is a lot of fun.”
Online registration is now open at www.divadash.com.
