28th Annual NAWBO-LA Leadership and Legacy Awards Luncheon May 28th

The Los Angeles chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO-LA), and the NAWBO-LA Foundation, announce the highly anticipated 1st Annual Women’s Business Conference & 28th Annual Leadership and Legacy Awards Luncheon on May 28, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the JW Marriott at LA LIVE. The annual NAWBO-LA Awards Luncheon recognizes top business achievers and advocates in the women’s business community who have established a legacy of entrepreneurial excellence and contributed significantly to the advancement of women. This year’s luncheon theme is “Women Rising.” This simple statement reflects the unique shared value that has led to each honoree’s accomplishments. They have taken tremendous risks, reinvented their businesses, didn’t take no for an answer, and took their idea to the next level.

In addition to the highly anticipated annual luncheon, 2014 marks the year NAWBO-LA will be incorporating a women’s business conference component featuring keynote speakers, breakout sessions and a members-only business matchmaking element. The addition of this conference will enable attendees to experience a full day of education, innovation, inspiration and growth strategies along with thought-provoking panel discussions and our highly anticipated keynote speaker, Carey Lohrenz. Carey was the US Navy’s first female Tomcat F-14 Fighter Pilot.

NAWBO-LA is honored to recognize six highly entrepreneurial and successful business leaders from various industries. The six (6) NAWBO-LA honorees for 2014 are:

Woman Business Owner of the Year: Anastasia Soare, Owner, Anastasia Beverly Hills
Hall of Fame: Elizabeth Alexander, President, Nick Alexander Imports, BMW and MINI
Leadership Honoree: Toni Ko, Founder and Chairwoman, NYX Cosmetics
Trail Blazer of the Year: Michelle Sobrino-Stearns, Publisher, Variety
Rising Star Honoree: Charlotte Tarantola, Creative Director and Owner, Charlotte Tarantola
Community Leader Honoree: DeAnn S. Marshall, Senior VP, Chief Development and Marketing Officer, Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles

“I am thrilled to be involved with another incredible slate of honorees this year,” said Carmen Rad, NAWBO-LA Event Chair and President of the Board of Directors of NAWBO-LA and President of CR&A. “Each honoree has a unique story about how they beat the odds, exceeded expectations and proved that anything is possible even when they were told they could not do it. While they all come from very different industries, they share a common strand in their DNA: no one person, thing or circumstance was going to keep them from success.”

NAWBO-LA’s annual awards luncheon is a joint fundraising event for both NAWBO-LA and the NAWBO-LA Foundation. “Each year we are amazed by the quality and success of our honorees. It’s truly a testament to the resilience, creativity and spirit of women entrepreneurs of the LA community. We continue to be inspired and amazed by the many contributions these women make on a daily basis to business and community,” stated Mina Trujillo, Executive Director of NAWBO-LA.
